Waldorf Astoria Ile Platte Seychelles
- 24 July 2024 | News
Being a Waldorf Astoria specialist for many years it was not a big surprise when my long time client and above all friend Britta Krug, Hilton country commercial director in Seychelles, asked me if I wished to partecipate in building the visual image of the brand new Waldorf Astoria Platte Island in Seychelles.
I have shot many opening of resorts yet I was impressed for its magnitude and importance.
Platte is a pristine island 20 minutes flight from Mahe in the Seychelles archipelago, a natural nursery for many marine species hence a nature paradise.
Waldorf and the Property decided to create something that seldom has been done, an extreme luxury destination where nature comes first. Only 120 clients can be hosted in 50 ultraluxury private villas, three restaurants, 5 bars and a huge and unique spa.
Surrounded by thousands of manta rays, baby sharks, fregates, crabs and turtles we shot all the imagery needed to comunicate the island to the world, starting from the architecture and ending up with the lifestyle photoshoot culminating with an hero shot which has already been chosen for billboards and other communication.
Even with the necessity of staying in WA guidelines we decided that this product needed a bit of diversity and uniqueness; after a meticulous study of the island light, we shot almost everything with a strong light coming in the venues, to recreate a sort of outdoor mood also in the indoor.
As per our chat with the resort GM Elias Pertoft we visually brought the island inside the rooms, the restaurants and the spa.
